Cultural differences

Today I was met with an unexpected gesture from my student while playing a game. The game seemed harmless enough. We were studying the names for different sports, and I thought a mime game would be fun. The student acted out the sport that was on the flashcard, while we guessed. I felt the game was going along very well, when all of the sudden, after my student saw the card she was about to act out, she bowed down very low, wied(putting hands together like in prayer, they do this when they greet each other, and for great apology), and said 'kaw taut' (sorry, or asking pardon, a phrase that is not as commonly used as in America). I was quite bewildered, what on earth was she going to do that would be so bad? In the next instant I knew. The sport being acted out was Karate. Apparently she had taken some lessons, because her feet went strait in the air, and a couple of times more or less in the direction of Pawn and me.
If this would have happened in my first month or so in living here, I would have been puzzled at what exactly she did to have to humble herself so much beforehand. In Thailand, one of the main taboos is to point at anyone with your feet!
